i think i would call this monochromatic.... right? if you look closely can you see those score lines on the white rectangular piece. Score pal helped us make those pretty subtle lines and then we sponged some color right over top of them! kinda looks like a quilt of sorts. the pretty embossed oval is from the 2pk designer frame impression folders. so after we ran that piece of paper through the big shot, then we ripped off the excess paper around the edges. the wide oval punch fits our sentiment in the middle just perfectly!

i recently took on a new task as facilitator in our church. what's that?? jus means i along w/ another gal and two men from the consistory, we work together as a team to make sure people are cared for and hopefully not lost among the crowds of people.

Among the group that we are serving, we had a young couple, that had a little boy w/ RSV turned to pneumonia...scary to say the least. after a long hospital stay, and many answered prayers, they were all able to come back home again. the card above was for the lil man....

Hannah's frogs

When i went to convention last summer is seen something like this so we did our best to make a frog and we're very pleased w/ how she came together! Hannah took charge @ the punch and punched out 120 large ovals and 60 circles for the eyes and 20 little red hearts. I assembled the first one so she could copy it and she took it from there! We didn't have enough google eyes for every froggy, but i thought just use what we have! After putting them all together, she stuffed a ring pop in the frogs belly!

ps. if you make these, make sure to sign the name before they are made to stand up....kinda hard to write when they are assembled.... *wink*

pretty little tootsie pop holder

she decided to make the sucker holder...k lets b honest, mom 'gently' urged her to do so....

she did AWESOME! She punched out all the hearts, stamped all the scallop circles and glued them all together, i did the cutting, measuring and scoring for her and then she would fold it, stick a tootsie sucker in and hand to me... then i would staple shut. one staple on each side of the stick holds it in snug! then we tied some ribbon around the stick and even some candy cane fabric on a few!

hello on this brisk day outside! i've had a busy work week this week painting and hanging decor for others and so i've been in and out... thank goodness for down coats and scarves(and work)! ;)

Today is a big day for our Grandpa Vis. He is in Rochester for open heart surgery today. Even tho others that i've known have gone through this procedure before, i guess i was too young for it to register and for whatever reason i don't remember much of the last time Grandpa went through it?? Along w/ our children we have been praying fervently for God to keep him safe while his heart is being worked on. What an amazing thing... that it can be done. Hard for me to even imagine it.

i've told some of you about my wrapping venture this year! i wanted the brown bag look. my friend Rachel suggested i go to the hardware store and buy a roll of the stuff you cover your floors with during new construction to protect them... and i did just that! It's quite bulky but if you use packing tape to adhere, works like a charm. Then i stamped the name of the recipient on each pkg w/ my su! alpha stamps that had a layer of dust on them.(thanks to digi scrappin'!) Thanks Pinterest for the idea! ;) btw, true friends don't tell other true friends about Pinterest...it's an addiction waiting to happen! teehehe that pretty ribbon, yup, bought it on the clearance rack last yr after the holidays. didn't know what i would use it for, but sure came in handy now!

also, i think i have wrapping paper for like 5 yrs fo sho, w/ that baby...

two tags die w/ the big shot, rolled these out in a jiffy! all i had to do was embellish. i used dsp scraps from my scrap basket and then the ornament punch and star punch. the two way glue pen helped me in adding some dazzling diamonds to each piece. on the star and ornament. They are so pretty in person, hard to capture that via film..

a mini glue dot and some hemp twine gave me the loop on top of my ornament to 'hang'

I embossed the circle circus w/ clear embossing powder right over top of my sentiment. then on the halo, i dotted it w/ my 2 way glue pen and added dazzling diamonds for the sparkle. i put them together into a 4X6 cello bag and topped it w/ the top note die and some spice cake dsp.

This is a memory jar. I'd never heard of it before this, but think it's a fabulous idea. a friend called and asked if i could make this for her. She lost her Dad last year and they wanted to fill the jar w/ memories and give it to their Mom for Christmas. with that in mind i wanted to make it very special, little details to make it pretty...

the spice cake dsp worked well i thought for some nice earth tones that can hopefully be displayed in her home w/o sticking out like a sore thumb. i used lots of sticky strip and mini glue dots to make sure it was stuck together well

my digital studio, downtown grunge pre designed page( i just dropped my pix in) then added the presto pattern overlay stamp for the border around the page. title is made using the simple letter alpha punch and then i filled it w/ play date dsp and matted it in a brown. Noteworthy labels stamp is what i used for a little journaling on the top and the stitching going across the page is from the stitches and corners. I LOVE changing the opacity of the stamps when i work w/ them. for this presto pattern above i did it in very vanilla color but then just toned it down a bunch so it's not so very bold!

fall weddings are so pretty and the last one i went to in WI was done in the browns and rust colors. These are the thank you cards that i stamped up as part of the wedding gift. kept it very clean and simple and stamped the flourish from baroque motifs on the envelope to match in cajun craze.

i just love these new designer frame impression folders. i actually made the impression first and then stamped my sentiment right in it w/ the clear stamps. so very cool and no stamp a ma jig needed! love that.

using leftover spice cake dsp from our pretty box class i put together this cute little baggy. it has 4 3X3 cards in it w/ envelopes to go w/ it. perfect little gift for those teachers, bus drivers, coworkers ect! i use the 4X6 bag to put these in.

This is one of the cards i included in the stack as a wedding gift to T&L. this pretty dsp is from the pack pocket full of posies. part of the dsp paper share we did a while back. not one that jumped out at me but i'm having fun creating w/ it! i like to challenge myself once in a while and i would call this it! but then again, using dsp is super easy bc everything coordinates right!? Can you see the raised frame. this is one of my newer toys, and impression folder w/ the big shot.

take note of the teeny tiny brad used above. they are so cute! If you don't have them... you NEED them! ;)

pretty baby girl using the set bear hugs. this is the perfect set to break out those blender pens or aqua painters or stampin pastels to give some color to our image! My favs personally are the stampin pastels first and then the aqua painters next. i think they are the easiest to use.

tip: see the button? i snipped a little piece of the paper used on the card to 'thread' it. works great and then adhere w/ a mini glue dot. it won't go anywhere!

so i don't usually do this...share so much of my personal life on here. but today is an exception i suppose! we just had so much fun @ Travis and Laura's wedding in Mitchell SD! Above and below you can see the hair pieces i made .... i wanted them to be different from each other as they have very different hair colors! tickled w/ how they came together!

Hannah and Haley were given beautiful bracelets along w/ a personalized purse (monogram) from T&L. They were super excited and proud of the new bling!

THIS! i've been officially sucked into the world of making vintage head pieces and i'm addicted to one more thing...*sigh*...but they are sewwww cute! Nov 5 is a saturday and i will be @ the Orange City craft fair there. Held in the living water church. I'm super excited! Come check out my Stampin Up! it's been 9 days since I've posted. i feel a bit on the rusty side! Well i FINALLY uploaded the 200 pix off my camera, went through them, edited and now can share a few! This is the stack of thank yous i stamped up for my cousin Becky that got married a few weeks ago! Her colors were obviously black and pink and i had fun coming up w/ this combo!

been showing very simple and basic cards lately. hope I'm not boring you! this card is 4 1/4" wide so ii took a piece of that well worn dsp...make sure it's longer than the card is wide. crumple it up and then kinda ruffled it w/ some sticky strip to the card front. tore it a smidge and tie some early espresso linen thread around it! When i had the card all finished i spritzed once w/ the log cabin smooch spritz.

this was my big secret that i created for the club gals as well! i sewed chip boards in there so it will protect the cards inside if they choose to put it in their purse! That was my intention. sometimes it's just nice to have a card at your finger tips and this is a perfect way to carry them! Each gal, got a glitter letter in their first initial on the front! I sewed these using the super pretty fabric, deck the halls.

sometimes you just need a simple and sharp card that embraces a bit of masculinity right? i think this one hits the spot. since we just recently did the fabulous dsp share(love it!) i have this fun new paper to play with @ a fraction of the price! what a dashing little grill we have here eh? well i can't say the bbq stamps are su! saddly, but they are something i bought a LONG long time ago and dusted off to make these! perfect for the situation;) the salutation "you're invited" is su! from the cute set really retro(now retired). first i stamped my grill in basic black. took my aqua painters and some cherry cobbler on the tips to color them in. after they dried nicely i filled in the grills w/ crystal effects. so cute, you can't help but touch if you were the recipient....
the cute red checkered dsp is from the pkg Love letters DSP and of course some black ribbons.

Sept 1 is HERE(holiday mini catalog goes LIVE).....Yipeeeeeeeeee! the time has come! i got my supplies, designed the box and now i can set a date for this "first time ever type of class" for me! i can't wait. If you have a Mother, MIL or friend that is hard to buy things for...this is PERFECT!!! and of course you need one for yourself to put those pretty cards you make inside to have ready @ your finger tips when you need one!

These white chipboard dividers are included in w/ your box, we will cover them to make them look dazzling!

Class Break down: Cost $30 (each (up to 2) additional box is $12)

Included is: One card keeper, one package of the spice cake designer series paper, 2 1/2' early espresso quilted ribbon, everything else you see in the pictures AND six cards you will create to put in your box. They will be simple and all made using your dsp that you will have w/ the bundle. If you would like to make more than one box, you can cover 3 boxes w/ your one pkg of dsp included in this bundle.

This is a job i started last spring w/ the painting part of it and i got up there last week to finish it up w/ decor! this was the guest room and the only room i remembered to take a b4 pix of! ;) The home owner was pleased w/ the outcome...Whew!

does it seem like all i scrap is mr. chase? well thaz bc i'm working real hard on his first yr(that's what i did w/ girl too), so no worries, i don't favor him;) Take note of the jumbo eyelets i used above. if you want them to look realistic, fill a circle punch w/ the bottom paper and then layer that right behind the eyelet. looks like it's punched throught then instead of just 'laying' on top of the paper! the circle design behind the pix is a stamp from the set circle circus(bought as an addon) and then i changed the color to very vanilla and then changed the opacity to make it lighter. any ?'s please let me know!!

@ our church when it's our turn to greet, we are asked to send a note of encouragement to a missionary that our church supports. Well, i've ALWAYS wanted to stamp them a cute card when it's my turn and jus never get it done. this time i did. i hope it brings a smile to their face in their third world country and that they can sense my admiration for what they do.

This is a rather large card as we receive an addressed envelope and it's business size. so i made it fit just right!

for the first time EVA i sewed on my card what do you think eh? nifty! i don't actually own that beautiful punch 'lace ribbon border'.... but, when i went to convention we got to use it on the projects we made so punched up my scraps!! took them home and now had the perfect spot to use it!

the flower above was made using the flower folds die in the big shot. after i cut that i ran each layer through the crimper 2X to break down the paper fibers so it crumples 'super' nice. the paper is so much softer when u are done doing that. can you tell what the center of that flower is??? I actually took a small strip of the timeless portrait designer fabric and twisted it into a tight circle thingy! used sticky strip underneath to hold it awesomely snug. then laid a string off of my pearl sheet right around the edges of the fabric.

i like to have these kind of cards on hand for when you hear of someone who needs a smile on their face or have maybe lost a loved one. i think the soft colors and different textures on this card make it pop. That nifty little oval ripped piece is a NEW impression folder out of the big caty. it's super cool and you get TWO different shapes! they are awesome!!! after using the folder i just ripped the excess paper off around the edges, used my wide oval punch to add some dsp to the center(some pretty flowers from paisley petals) and then sponged the edges. i used my paper snips to cut out my stem/flower and on the bottom added some sticky strip and ribbon!

since we recently moved onto a new street i was no longer included in my old block party!! ;( well that only means one thing right??? We have to start a new one. Well if i kept up w/ the Jones's i was really gonna have to be on the ball...and i wasn't...so i kept it super simple and we had an icecream party! Exactly what my girls LOVE!! it was a hit. we all had fun, met new people and i think i could almost greet every person on my street by first name now. my goal.

switch up!! i just changed the colors here from yesterdays post and instead of a star on top i used this stamp instead(also in the set) i don't quite know what to call it?! the colorful dsp is from the pack of paisley petals.

This bright piece was one of the cards we made @ camp last week. It was simple but i think it packs some punch! you? Using that fun new stamp set Pennant Parade and then of course the punch that goes w/ it we could make these cute party hats in a snap! We popped the punched out star up on a dimensional, stamped 'wish big' on a scrap piece and just used our paper snips to make a cute little flag. TIP: if you have a square punch, they work great for this. just slide in your end that you want 'flagged' to a corner of the square punch and wa'la'. it's perfect!

This is using the beautiful set Strength & Hope (that is only available till August 31!) it's in the Occasions mini right now and for every set sold, SU! donates $2 to the BCRF(Breast Cancer Research Foundation) I love the butterfly and the words are my fav.... i have the clear mount set(ONLY $13.95!!!) and that made it very easy to nicely line up these butterflies! no stamp a ma jig needed;) I tore the one edge and then just roughed it up w/ my finger nails a bit.
